Black
Swan was one of several ships imported to Sydney as a set of
frames and then built locally. Her first mention was on January 2nd,
1854 when she was noted as being loaded at London for Sydney along with
Pelican (her sister vessel).
By February 1854 she had been sold to the Launceston Steam Navigation
Company under the command of a Captain Woods and was expected to
operate to Van Diemens land (Tasmania) from Melbourne.
In November 1865 she was lengthened to 33 metres (110 feet).
Her first trip to Manly was on the 25th of July, 1855. After March 1866
she was sold to T S Mort and Eyde Manning
She was wrecked on June 4, 1868
