Adelaide
was a wooden paddle wheel steamer of 131 tons and 112.2 x 16.1 x 5.8
feet in dimensions as bult in 1866.
Built by J Stewart on the Clarence River, she was first owned and
operated by the Parramatta River Steam Company on the inner west and
river routes.
In 1879 she was sold to Charles Jeanneret and was renamed to
Swan. At the same time she was
lengthened to 114.2 feet.
Under her new owner she continued to operate in the Hunters Hill area
and (as most early boats did) also ran excursions. She is mentioned in
the newspapers of the day as occassionally running excursion trips to
Manly in the holiday seasons under charter to the Manly Co-Operative
Steam Ferry
Company (post 1883).
She was broken up in 1900.
