Aegeria
was a small (25 ton) wooden steam shp built at Berry's Bay in
1877 by William Ford with the dimensions of 58.4 x 10.4 x 5.6 feet. She
was powered by a Bell Brothers 11hp steam engine.
Owned originally by the Joubert family, then later A Garrick, she
operated for some ten years for the Hunters Hill and Lane Cove Steam
Ferry Company with running mates such as
Womerah and
Rose.
Advertisments in the major newspapers show that she also operated
excursion trips to the Lane Cove picnic grounds.
In 1887, primary sources indicate she was sold to foreign owners;
certainly there is no further mention of her after this date.
