Built as the Newcastle-on-Hunter for Stockton Ferries Ltd, this vessel operated between Stockton and Newcastle until the government takeover in 1980. Sold to G & S Davey along with her running mate John H Walter (Birkenhead II), she then operated between Pier One and various other wharves to Birkenhead Point from 1983 until sometime after 1988 when Sydney Ferries began operating the route.
