Black Swan was one of several ships imported to Sydney as a set of frames and then built locally.

She was a sister ship to the Pelican.

In November 1865 she was lengthened to 33 metres (110 feet).

Her first trip to Manly was on the 25th of July, 1855. After march 1866 she was sold to T S Mort and Eyde Manning.

She was wrecked on June 4, 1868
