This small ferry was originally owned by the Jeanneret family. After
the company built the steam tramway between Parramatta and Ducks Creek,
this ferry along with Cygnet, Gannet & Pheasant serviced the
terminus.
Between 1898 and 1917 the company & vessels were operated by a
London-based company, The Sydney & Parramatta Wharves, Steamers
& Tramway Co Ltd.. In 1917, the company & remaining vessels
(including Halcyon) were finally taken over by Sydney Ferries Ltd.
The shipping record for this vessel was closed in 1933 indicating that
she was disposed of (possibly broken up) around this time.
