Mystery B Class, Kirawa and Koompartoo (?) at the Quay
« on: March 23, 2011, 11:43:36 PM »
Anyone able to identify this B class? Looks like Koompartoo in background as the name is quite long. Oooh and Woollahra in the foreground.

I think the B class ferry is burra bra from the positioning and length of the name

You're finding some good pics Kuramia. There aren't too many good ones of Burra Bra compared to the other B's.

Yes the Balgowlah is certainly the phantom - although I think I might be on to a new pic of her laid up at Kurraba Pt

I'd love to find a pic of her in her barge role at Iron Cove. Then again, any pics of Balgowlah would be good!

I think it's the Burra-Bra. The Burra-Bra had a shorter funnel compared to the other 'B' Class.

Just thinking about the Balgowlah - I have seen a brilliant photo of her passing close by an aircraft carrier
C 1945-6. I think it was in Picture Australia but I'll be damned if I can find it again. I forgot to copy it or note its location at the time. I remember thinking it strange that it was not cross referenced to the ferry category given that it was an excellent photo.
