We'll be on board the Goola on both days this coming weekend.
Witha little luck the aft flagpole will be going back up and we can finally get to fly our house flag for the first time since 1983!
We're also expectinga load of timber to be delivered for the deck railings - so a few tasks there and I personally can't wait to rip off the old and rotten ones that are quite an embarrsment for the old girl. Of course then we have to clean and treat the underlying metal first.... but can't wait to see polished wood back on the outside of the ferry again!
If you want to come down Saturday is always the busiest of the two days with most of our crew on board - even if it's just a stickybeak to see what's been going on - of course if you have any skills you'd like to use or share we'd be more than happy to accept. Sunday is generally quieter and is the day when the fiddly bits and maintenance gets done - usually an easy day and good for an introduction to the boat with a somewhat less hectic environment than on Saturdays.
We provide tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit but you will need to bring your own lunch. If you wish to stay oon Saturday evening for dinner before we all depart then that is provided at no cost - but you do need to let us know beforehand so we can plan numbers and supplies.
Pickup (by boat only) is from either the boat ramp at Greenwich saling club (end of Manns Place and plenty of parking if you are driving) or (if coming by train) at the stone wharf at the bottom of the stairs off Horace Street (it runs beside HMAS Waterhen and is a five minute walk from the station). Please note we cannot pick up at any of the ferry wharves.
On arrival call us on 0405 945 465 to arrange pickup.
Friday we are expecting heavy rain but fortunately this will be contracting to the odd brief shower on Saturday morning and temperature will be a very pleasant 24 degress and with light breezes - a perfect day to be on the harbour perhaps! Sunday will be 26 and tending to sunny periods.
Hope to see you there on the weekend!
