Kirrule was one of three identical sister ferries of the Kubu class.
These ferries were the second largest type of inner harbour vessels and
were built in response to the booming North Shore trade.
Along with Kubu and the older Kookooburra she operated a succesful
sideline in the 1920's as a harbour excursion vessel.
After the reformation of the inner harbour fleet by the Sydney Harbour
Trust Board in 1951she was laid up pending a decision to convert her to
diesel operation. This did not happen and she was broken up in 1953.
