Lady Woodward is a near sister ship to Lady Cutler and Lady McKell.

She was originally built as Lady McKell but their names were swapped shortly before their launch dates.

Lady Woodward holds the distinction of winning the first Great Ferry Race on January 20th, 1980. She again won the race in 1982.

On the 2th of July, 1977, she ran down a fishing boat off Long Nose Point which resulted in one death.

She was withdrawn from service in 1992 and remained laid up untilm being sold to Tasmanian interests in 1994. Her new owners removed one bridge and she now services salmon farms on the west coast of Tasmania from Macquarie Harbour.

On the 3rd of February, 2001 the Lady Jane Franklin (cruise vessel) ran aground near Strahan. The following day the lady Woodward pulled her clear and towed her to harbour.

Lady Woodward received a new coat of dark green paint and a general overhaul in 2005. She is said to be in good condition and well maintained.

Lady Woodward is named after the wife of the New South Wales Governor, Sir Eric Winslow Woodward.
